Just got thru telling my own wife about this thread...which I LOVE b/c we've gone thru this now for SO many roads--me playing waaaaayyyy too much Dead and her begging to please not have to listen to yet another version of EYES from a live show.

Her suggestions (since there IS some Dead she likes--in small doses) is to not push so much. Let the spouse in question discover what she likes on her own, w/out the constant barrage of songs (many of them the same but different versions) over and over again.

Back before I started the overkill she enjoyed RECKONING, the EYES from Nassau featuring Branford Marsalis, and some Bobby tunes like ESAU.

But no Donna. She HATES Donna. (Which is problematic since my favorite Dead era is smack dab in the "Donna years" of '77-'79.

Just her two cents from a similarly beleagured wife of a Dead head!

p.s. She says she also likes "Althea" and "that one version of Peggy-O" (5/5/77)...but she still hates "that dumb Wheel song." Oh, well. I take my victories where and when I can.

ok- speaking of donna, wanta laugh?

my youngest daughter Danielle completely 'hates' donna too- she says to me 'mom, she ruins the song!' ha!

well I went to DSO last night, and Donna opened up with her new band the tricksters, and Danielle says to me before I left for the show...."I hope she doesn't ruin the songs mom!"

LOL!! :)

btw, Danielle's favorite song is UJB. :) she's 11.

I can't WAIT to tell my wife that story--she'll love it! (She also will have trouble believing there's a female "Grateful Dead Gnome", which is what she calls us ;-)

Happy New Year to you and yours, Dancin'!
